Unveiling Math Personal Help – A New Math Course from JEC NW

Jan 25, 2019

Math Personal Help is a weekly, small-group session available to students at any math level from elementary school through high school, including students preparing independently for math exams like the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT, or SAT Subject Math 2.

Each class will have an average of 5-6 students studying a variety of math subjects. During class, students can get help on their work for school or their personal study material. Emphasis is on helping students to build skills appropriate to their level so that they can confidently solve future problems without outside assistance. Therefore, this course is perfect for self-motivated students who want to get ahead or catch up in their school courses without adding separate coursework.

Since our goal is to support students on their path to academic success, the Math Personal Help program provides academic coaching to help students develop and stick to their own personal short-term and long-term study plans, and we provide periodic feedback on student progress toward their goals by e-mail or conference.

Students commit to a weekly schedule, but we understand that sometimes students cannot make it to class for a variety of reasons. That’s why we offer flexibility in our MPH courses – they can be rescheduled as needed as long as the family provides us with 24-hour advance notice and there is room in another class.

Tuition is only $30 per session with a minimum registration of 10 weeks. Also, right now, we are offering a free trial first session so students can see if the program is right for them. For more information, please contact us at info@jecnw.com or (503) 533-7880.

Spring registration has begun at all of our JEC NW locations. With the new year just around the corner, now is the time for students to start setting and preparing to reach their academic goals for 2018. What will your student achieve this year? Better grades? Improved skills? Higher scores? At JEC NW, we have many programs available to help students get ready to take on the next challenge.

10-Week ACT Workshop

This program, which runs from January 26th – March 31st, familiarizes students with every section of the ACT (Math, English, Reading, Science, and Essay). It includes a weekly practice test as well as three hours of small group instruction to help prepare students for the April 3rd examination. If your student aspires to impress prospective universities with his/her best possible score, participation in this course would be an excellent step toward fulfilling that goal.

SAT Subject Test Prep

Our SAT Subject Test preparation courses guide students toward improving their performance on the hour long content-area exams required by many major colleges. We offer small group or private instruction in several key subjects. Through frequent review of model tests and a thorough overview of test content, our instructors can help students score their best on these challenging exams. Contact us for more information on available subjects.

NEW Junior Grammar Workshop

The new junior grammar workshop is a chance for younger students to become acquainted with the ins and outs of Standard English writing conventions and usage. In this 10-week course, students will discuss and work hands-on with all the most pivotal grammar concepts required to be effective writers and readers of complex texts. Junior Grammar Workshop will be available during two sessions 1/22/18 - 3/31/18 and 4/2/18 - 6/9/18. Call us at (503) 533-7880 or e-mail us at info@jecnw.com to learn more.
