Math Personal Tutoring

Our Math Personal Tutoring program is a student-paced supplementary math curriculum. Students work in small group classes, each pursuing his or her personal math goals with the support and instruction of one of our highly competent math tutors. After assessing student math proficiencies, our academic counselors guide students either toward a math curriculum that aligns with and supports their school learning or toward a remedial or advanced curriculum based on the students' individual needs. This course is available in small group, semi-private, and private formats upon request.

Readi@JEC NW English Level I – V

The Readi@JEC NW English curriculum combines the most important elements of language arts to enrich students' understanding of vital reading and writing skills including comprehension, analysis, discussion, grammar, vocabulary, and composition. Students will encounter a variety of high-quality fiction and non-fiction works and will be encouraged to think critically about challenging themes, complex text structures, and how language and other writing techniques shape understanding. This course is open to 6th-11th grade students in both small group and private formats. All students will need to complete an assessment test to be placed into the correct course level.

Writer's Lab

This course challenges middle and high school students to explore a wide range of fiction and nonfiction writing tasks, expand their repertoire of literary and rhetorical techniques, and explode their understanding of writing past the merely functional to embrace the beautiful, the meaningful, and the true. This course can be individualized to meet specific student needs, but students will be expected to put forth their best effort to achieve personal learning goals.

Reading Club

Reading is arguably the most important skill you can foster in your child. Extensive reading has been linked to a greater vocabulary, better achievement on standardized tests, and more successful performance across the content areas. This course helps develop student reading skills through the use of both fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will read, discuss, analyze, and write about both grade appropriate novel-length works and shorter nonfiction pieces to increase reading proficiency and encourage active reading habits and skills that will serve them well in their school courses and beyond. This course can be personalized for specific student needs upon request.
